My riding life began back in the early 1990s with an MZ ETZ125 that got me through my test and a few years of commuting as a local paper reporter down in Kent. With a full licence in place I upgraded to a D-reg Kawasaki GT550 before eventually landing a job as a reporter on MCN.

Over the years working on MCN, RiDE and Bike I’ve had the pleasure of many long-term test bikes from a Cagiva Raptor to a BMW R1150R, Harley Road King, Ducati Scrambler Café Racer and more. Each has had its own particular charms.

I’ve a fondness for slightly unusual twins and singles, having had a Honda Dominator in the garage for many years and now one of the first-generation of the 803cc Ducati Scramblers. And not forgetting a Honda VFR750 which did sterling service for a year or two as well.
