Jon Bentman

Jon is a former Editor of Motorcycle Sport & Leisure, Kiwi Rider, MotoX and RUST (among others!), and former road test contributor to Practical Sportsbikes. He currently edits the TRF’s magazine, Trail. A professional journalist since 1996, he has competed in road racing, trials and enduro having tested top race machines as diverse as Antoine Meo’s 2011 Enduro E1 world championship winning Husqvarna TE250 through to Mike Hailwood’s Yamaha TZ750 on which Mike practiced in New Zealand prior to his TT return in 1978.

Jon’s current love is a 1990 Honda Dominator – an air-cooled 650cc single that does adventure as well as any modern bike (he argues). He has another Dominator, too, a 1955 Norton Dominator. With a blueprinted motor by a famed race tuner it has considerably more go than stop, which is an issue not yet resolved. Then there’s a 1983 Honda TLR250 trials for moto-yoga sessions. Each wears a patina – which is to say could do with some additional resto work…

He's also big into adventure riding, having ridden seven International BMW GS Trophy finals and is the pathfinder-scout for the five-day Adventure Country Tracks UK route.
