Ben Purvis
Ben came to MCN back in 1997 fresh from university and dropped plans for a career in law to pursue the dream of writing about bikes for a living. Landing as a junior news reporter he discovered a knack for scooping the stories that others couldn’t get, rising through the ranks to Senior Reporter, Chief Reporter and eventually News Editor.Read more
After 11 years at MCN, Ben decided to go it alone in 2008, building on his contacts across the globe to write for a broad array of titles in print and online in Europe, Japan, the USA, Australia and of course the UK, for publications including Wired, Cycle World and Bike Social. While sticking mainly to two wheels, he also writes for car magazines, technology titles and lifestyle publications.
Today his main focus is on the technology of motorcycles – including those from the past, the present and the future – as well as aiming to be the first to know about new models before they’re launched and sharing that information with readers.
Having started riding and driving as a 90s teenager, he has a soft spot for bikes and cars from that era but not enough garage space to indulge in it as much as he’d like.
