There are few accessible countries remaining in the world today where you can truly experience a lifestyle that has remained mostly unchanged for hundreds of years. Although Mongolia is changing rapidly, that quality of a simplistic life so many of us seek can still be found outside of the capital city of Ulaanbaatar.
The lure of travellers to this country has always been strong but its remoteness has made getting to Mongolia challenging. However, those few that have made the journey have been welcomed by friendly people and experienced a land of beauty and enormous diversity.
The vastness of this land, as was demonstrated so clearly some years ago in “Long Way Round”, a film starring famous Hollywood actor Ewan McGregor and his companion Charley Boorman on their motorcycles, is still there and waiting to be discovered by new adventurers.

Mongolia is the 18th largest country in the world by area and is almost 7 times that of the United Kingdom. Mongolia’s population is just 3.5 million people with half living in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia is also the 2nd least densely populated country with only 2.14 people per square kilometre giving the first place to Greenland. You can imagine, there’s plenty of space to breathe.
A considerable number of the Mongolian people continue to live a nomadic lifestyle, as did generations before them, and they are happy to invite visitors into their traditional homes (Yurts or in Mongolian: Gers) and share this experience with them. It is still hard to imagine that these people live their lives, even today, without running water, central sewage or even electricity.
If you have a spirit for adventure, then visit Mongolia and experience this unique land with its welcoming friendly people. “Ride Mongolia” LLC, a motorcycle tourism company registered in Mongolia, offers a unique way to explore some of the most spectacular parts of this wonderful country. Our guided motorcycle tour destinations include: Orkhon Valley in the central region, South Gobi in the southern region and the Khuvsgul Lake in the north-western region. Tours are designed to give you the maximum exposure to the country and its people.
