BSB: Kyle Ryde to make BSB debut with FS3 Kawasaki

1 of 1

Kyle Ryde will make his MCE British Superbike debut at Brands Hatch this weekend after losing his seat with the Puccetti Kawasaki World Supersport team.

Ryde will stand in for the injured Billy McConnell, who dislocated his femur in an enormous highside at Thruxton earlier this year, in the Quattro Plant FS3 Racing Kawasaki team.

McConnell had been keen to return this weekend, but team boss Nigel Snook told MCN that this was not possible after the Aussie failed a medical assessment on Monday evening.

After finishing second in the British Supersport series in 2015, Ryde graduated to the world stage for 2016 but struggled to make an impact after his team folded mid-season.

He secured a place in the factory-backed Puccetti squad alongside five-time champion Kenan Sofuoglu for 2017, but despite a promising start to the season his results trailed off as the year went on resulting in a mutual split with the Italian team.

“I am so happy that the Quattro Plant FS-3 Kawasaki team have given me this opportunity at Brands Hatch because opportunities like this don’t come about too often,” Ryde said.

“I’m really looking forward to a new chapter and a new beast which the superbike is! I have never ridden one before but I’m sure I can get to grips with it. Hopefully we can have some dry track time before the three big races with the fast lads of the UK. I will be trying my best with no expectations and go into the weekend ready to enjoy myself.”
