#ride5000miles: ‘I rode my S1000RR to get married’
It seems #ride5000miles members can’t stop riding – even on their big day!
It’s been another busy week for our #ride5000mile members, with big trips to stunning places, roadtrips to the Isle of Man and even a run to Gretna Green on an S1000RR to get married! It’s all in a day’s work for an R5K member – and you can join in by signing up to our Facebook page.
Respect for good organisation and planning goes to Ricky Hynd for his roadtrip on a Suzuki GSX-R750. Riding sportsbikes is great on Northern Scotland’s fast, quiet, flowing roads, but race reps aren’t great at lugging luggage, so Ricky had a clever idea. “Instead of staying somewhere different every night, I based myself at Inchnadamph, north of Ullapool for three nights. It allowed me to get out and ride the fantastic roads without having to carry all my gear. I did 1000 miles in total. It was fantastic.” It’s a tip worth noting for future roadtrips.

Also living the dream was R5k-er Wayne Marrison, who picked up his new zero-miles S1000RR from Pidcock motorcycles and rode it 240 miles to Gretna Green to get married that afternoon. The new marriage is going well, but Wayne isn’t that happy with the S1000RR. “It’s smoother and feels more progressive than my 2015 bike, but has a snatchy throttle at low revs. I’ll ask BMW to look at that when it goes in for its 600-mile service in a few days. Still goes like a scalded cat though!”
