Honda’s Neo Sports Café is nearly here

Alongside the much-anticipated release of their new Gold Wing today, Honda have also whetted our appetite for new machinery with the unveileing of their Neo Sports Café Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. And, although it’s just a concept, we know the real bike will be revealed at the Milan show on November 6, suggesting that this concept is far more production-ready than its current status suggests.

The NSC arrives hot on the heels of two recently released teaser videos, and is a stripped-back naked that’s powered by the Fireblade’s 998cc water-cooled inline four-cylinder engine, which has been re-dressed to look more appealing in its new naked home. It also boasts a single-sided swingarm, fully-adjustable inverted fork, and an aggressive modern-retro stance.

Being a concept, it is obviously missing some key road-going parts – the rear numberplate hanger being one such omitted consideration. However, it is featured in one of the recent teaser videos, revealing that it’s an increasingly de rigueur swingarm-mounted hanger rather descending from the tail unit. The headlight on the finished machine looks certain to ape the concept bike’s dummy item in shape and style, but will obviously come with a clear lens through which its multiple LEDs will emit their bright white light.

The brakes are yet to be finalised but the production machine will also feature ABS, while the exhaust system on the finished machine looks like it will feature a larger multi-exit silencer, with an underslung catalytic converter in the collector box.

The clocks will also be significantly different on the production bike, appearing in the teaser video to be a blend of a round analogue tacho with an LCD or TFT panel to its right. The cute velocity stacks on the concept will also be replaced with an airbox nestled under the tank for the production model, fed by an intake at the front of the bike.

There’s no indicaiton on price or availability of the production model yet, but we expect both to be revealed at the Milan show, or Motorcycle Live the following week.
