Pre-1999 bikes to be banned from Paris

Motorcycles manufactured before June 1 1999 are to be banned from Paris between the hours of 8am and 8pm starting July 1, with a €35 fine coming into effect later this year on October 1.

Vehicles used in Paris each need a coloured badge to identify which emissions group they belong to, but pre-1999 bikes will be banned regardless of the colour of the badge.

The ban comes as part of an agreement between the Minister of Environment, the City of Paris, and the Group of Transportation Authorities.
