Last year was probably one of the worst races of my career; I was just riding around at nowhere near the limit, nowhere near my limit. So my intention is to come back strong, and have one of my best races of this year at Silverstone.

“I was delighted when it was announced that the round was going back to Silverstone, it deserves MotoGP, and it was the right place for it to go. It’s a fantastic track that all the riders like. I’m looking forward to going back there again, and to all the excellent fans who come out to support us, and to putting on a bit of a show. I think it’s great that we’ve now got good riders in every class in the championship who are capable of running at the front.

“I’m hoping to go to Silverstone on a real high, and to continue that in front of our home fans.”

Bradley Smith commented:

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Silverstone in August, it’s a world-class venue and everybody is happy we are going back there. It’s also a proper home GP for me. It’s the once chance every year us Brits get to perform in front of a home crowd. The Spanish guys get four chances, the Italians get two, but we only get one.

“I love the Silverstone circuit, it seems to have done me well over the last few years, but I’m obviously looking to make amends for the disappointment of last year’s race. I was going really well, but unfortunately the rear wheel rim was cracked, and that was the end of my race. So I’m looking forward to making a good show for the crowds. I love every minute of racing in front of the fans because of all the passion and energy they show.

“Last year at Silverstone was incredible, and I hope the crowds will take it on to another level again this year, especially with all the success that happening right now for British riders in all the GP classes. I stay at Silverstone for the whole race weekend, even though my home in Oxford is just 30 minutes away, it helps to keep me focused, and treat it like every other fly-away round. 

“The sport is growing and the interest is growing, so I hope the British fans come out in force at Silverstone to give us all that extra boost.”
