Oulton Park British Superbikes: Adam Jenkinson suffers further injury set back

After suffering a broken right arm and wrist at Thruxton a fortnight ago, Adam Jenkinson has turned up to the Oulton round this weekend with a cast not just on his right arm, but his left as well.

Jenkinson’s SMT Honda seized at Thruxton at one of the fastest parts of the circuit, throwing him from the bike and leaving him with a broken right arm and a shattered right wrist.

Jenkinson told MCN: “I’ve got a double compound fracture of my right lower arm [ulna] and that’s what popped out of my arm.

“But I’ve also got around six fractures of the right wrist so I’m going to be out for a while.”

And that wasn’t it for the BSB rookie, as a return for X-rays discovered two fractures of his left wrist.

“I could feel some pain in that wrist but I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want it to slow my return down,” said Jenkinson.

“I might have to get it pinned on Tuesday if it’s bad.

“My luck couldn’t get much worse – my crew chief Alec Tague and I were in a car crash last week too.

“We were coming back from picking some parts up from Hydrex and a lad in front of us on a dual carriageway ran out of diesel and we ended up in a shunt.

“So my neck’s a bit sore now as well.

“All this luck seems to have come at once – I had no problems in testing, not even a nearly, so I’m a bit gutted to have to miss out now.”

Jenkinson has been replaced for this weekend by Tom Grant who set the 13th fastest time today in practice.
