Scott Redding still shocked by British GP success

Scott Redding reckons the full impact of his stunning debut world championship win in last weekend’s British GP has still not sunk in.

The 15-year-old became the youngest rider in history on Sunday when he claimed a 125GP victory in front of nearly 90,000 fans at Donington Park.

He became the first British rider to win a 125GP for 35 years and speaking to MCN this morning on the eve of the Dutch GP in Assen the Blusens Aprilia rider said: “It still hasn’t sunk in to be honest and its all a bit surreal.

“If we hadn’t been racing this weekend I might have a bit more time to reflect on it, but I’ve got to focus on this race too. But it was a great feeling on Sunday and I’ve had a lot of people congratulating me, which has been great.

“I got a lot of text messages on Sunday so the response has been good,”

As the new darling of British motorsport, Redding has been inundated with media requests since his debut win on Sunday.

Later on today he will appear on the Chris Evans show on Radio 2.
