Czech World Superbikes: Alto Evolution bring in security guards

The Alto Evolution squad were back in the World Superbike paddock in Brno for the first time since Silverstone following their team truck and bikes being hijacked and then subsequently impounded by the Italian police.

Two weeks ago the team got their trucks and race bikes back, but to prevent any repeat of the hijacking the squad employed two beefy security guards to look after the team’s equipment.

On route from the teams base in Italy, two cars with security accompanied the vehicle all the way and in the paddock the two guards made their presence felt stood at the back of the garage.

Australian rider Josh Brookes who left the team in Misano has so far not been replaced meaning that Karl Muggeridge will be the sole member of the squad this weekend. Muggeridge, who hasn’t ridden since the first Silverstone race in May has also got an all new crew to work with following a change of staff within the Italian run team.

He said: “It’s good to be back. It’s going to be tough having not ridden a bike for nearly two months, but that’s the way it goes. I’ve got an all new crew apart from my tyre guy who I’ve worked with before.”
