Brno MotoGP: Alex Debon takes provisional 250 pole

Aprilia’s Alex Debon has taken provisional pole for Sunday’s 250 MotoGP race after recording the fastest lap in this afternoon’s first qualifying session.

The Spaniard’s best lap of 2:03.718 after just under nine minutes after the start of the session was enough to see him at the top of the timesheets before heavy rain hit the Czech track. His time was more than a second quicker than his best time from this morning.

Hector Barbera had been leading the session on his Aprilia after recording a best time of 2:15.974 to begin with before improving this with a 2:05.323.

Andrea Dovizioso was second fastest with a best lap of 2:03.819. This was just 0.2secs off his best time on his Honda this morning.

Quickest rider from this morning, Jorge Lorenzo, finished in provisional third place with a best lap of 2:04.272. He did lead the session for a brief time before being knocked down by Italian Andrea Dovizioso. 

Ireland’s Eugene Laverty knocked a massive four and a half seconds off his best time this morning with a 2:08.871.

Britain’s Dan Linfoot was just one place behind Laverty in 25th position with his best lap recorded at 2:09.575.
