Melandri to BMW Motorrad deal imminent

Marco Melandri is expected to sign a deal to ride for the factory BMW Motorrad team in 2012 later today. The 28 year old Italian currently rides for the factory Yamaha squad but following news that they will quit the series at the end of the season, Melandri has been forced to look for a new ride and is understood to have finally agreed terms with the German manufacturer earlier this week.

Melandri will join Brit Leon Haslam in the two man team and is expected to bring current team manager Andrea Dosoli with him to the BMW squad as team manager.

An official BMW announcement is expected during the weekend.
