Mattia Pasini signs Moto2 deal

Italian Mattia Pasini will ride for the JiR Moto2 team in 2010.

Pasini’s deal with the JiR squad, run by former MotoGP boss Gianluca Montiron, is expected to be confirmed before the end this week.

The 24-year-old also held talks with Herve Poncharal’s Tech 3 squad about a ride in the new four-stroke 600cc world championship, which will replace the current 250cc two-stroke series next season.

Pasini also tested for Ducati twice earlier this season and was a contender for the Pramac ride having impressed in testing outings at Brno and Mugello.

It is not clear who will partner the ten-times Grand Prix winner, though American JD Beach has been strongly linked with the ride and British rider Scott Redding has also held preliminary discussions with Montiron.
