Top bike reviews

  • BMW F900XR (2025-on)

    MCN rating
    4 out of 5 (4/5)

Upgrades for 2025 are minimal, but they add up to an F900XR that’s slightly sharper handling and thanks to its higher level of standard equipment, better value.

  • BMW S1000R (2025-on)

    MCN rating
    5 out of 5 (5/5)

It still delivers brain-shredding acceleration when you open the taps, the chassis oozes feel in all conditions and its brakes are brutally powerful and packed with feel.

  • YAMAHA R9 (2025-on)

    MCN rating
    5 out of 5 (5/5)

Yamaha’s new R9 mixes the friendly power delivery of an MT-09 with the sharp handling of a full-blown supersports weapon and a riding position that isn’t too extreme

  • VOGE 300 RALLY (2023-on)

    Overall owners' rating
    3 out of 5 (3/5)

Typical Chinese quality, light, easy to handle, good on fuel, Bad points. Alas quality let's it down, soft metal stand, and crash bars. Low service times. Warranty time issue's. Your need to do lots of DIY jobs yourself. Not a bike I'd recommend, due to ongoing...

  • BSA GOLD STAR (2022-on)

    Overall owners' rating
    5 out of 5 (5/5)

What can I say: it’s never let me down in 2 years, always brings a smile and is the most authentic neo classic available.

  • HONDA CBR125R (2004-2010)

    Overall owners' rating
    5 out of 5 (5/5)

Dicey on loose gravel and gusty crosswinds. Tires are slippery on loose sand on pavement and more slippery on ice than I'd like but boast longer tread life. Typical of 125s is lack of power at highway speeds but then I get fantastic fuel mileage in 6th gear at around 7-8,000 rpm. Running in...

  • HONDA CB250 (1992-2003)

    Overall owners' rating
    4 out of 5 (4/5)

I changed my wheels for spoked, either CB250rs or CD250U. 18" back and front and the handling is much better especially with lower handlebars and a Goodridge front brake hose.

  • HONDA XL750 TRANSALP (2023-on)

    Overall owners' rating
    5 out of 5 (5/5)

I like this bike a lot. It’s comfortable, quick and fun to ride, and fine for occasionally taking a pillion (one of my reasons for buying it). I bought it on a recommendation and would recommend it to others.

  • YAMAHA R1 (2004-2006)

    Overall owners' rating
    5 out of 5 (5/5)

Owned this last of the line 5pw model since 2017. My first litre bike even though I’ve been riding 600 sports bikes since around 2001.What a bike! I’ve had an array of Suzuki GSXR 600’s, Honda CBR 600’s and even a Thundercat but by a county mile this is the best bike I’ve ever...

  • HONDA VFR800 VTEC (2001-2012)

    Overall owners' rating
    5 out of 5 (5/5)

Beautiful looking bike in Candy Glory Red. Great acceleration, good brakes, comfortable seat.

  • TRIUMPH SPEED TRIPLE 1050 R (2012-on)

    Overall owners' rating
    5 out of 5 (5/5)

Compact, powerful, agile! Suspension is best set to "Comfort" settings for UK roads. Feels very special to ride.....
