The Royal British Legion Riders Branch 2009 World Record Attempt.

June 2009 will see an attempt by The Royal British Legion Riders Branch (RBLR) to break the ultimate endurance World Record.

The RBLR have joined forces with Iron Butt Association to try to beat the current World Record of 156 riders completing a 1000 mile ride in 24 hours. Organiser, Paddy McCreanor, explained “The idea is to raise money for the Poppy Appeal, raise awareness of the RBLR and the IBA and of course, set a New World Record!”.

The Royal British Legion Riders Branch was formed in 2004 to support the aims and charitable efforts of The Royal British Legion. They raise awareness of The Royal British Legion, raise funds for the Poppy Appeal, and help safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of those who have served in the Armed Forces.

“The ride will start at 0900 on the Saturday 20th June with all successful participants booking back in by 0900 on the Sunday” explained Paddy. This challenge is open to all riders and even has a choice of two designated routes. Both routes begin at Squires Café, West Yorkshire with the northern route heading for Fort William and the southern route heading for Redruth via Dover.
