Sneaky blue speed camera van still registered as white
Speed camera authorities claim the legal requirement to notify DVLA of vehicle colour changes does not apply to a sneaky new plain blue camera van.
DVLA’s website shows the van, registration number FN02NWZ, still registered as white.
When the apparent oversight was highlighted by a member of the public, Derbyshire Safety Camera Partnership wrote in reply: “If a vehicle colour change is temporary then DVLA do not require notification.”
DVLA’s information form with rules on colour changes states: “BY LAW if there are any changes you MUST immediately complete Section 7 with the relevant details e.g. new colour and date of change.”
A DVLA spokesman said failure to comply could result in a £1000 fine.
MCN has contacted the Derbyshire Safety Camera Partnership for clarification but so far received none.
