New EBR 1190RS on sale in UK in 2011

Magnesium wheels, 175bhp, 97ft-lb, 176kg, all-carbon bodywork, £27k, plans for three more new models…. THIS is how you bounce back from a breakup you even managed to lose your name in. And it’ll be on sale in the UK before the end of 2011. Denied the right to append to his own name to bikes that are more his than ever (Harley-Davidson still owns the ‘Buell’ in name), the EBR 1190 RS sees Erik Buell fighting out of the shallow grave into which his innovative bike business was cast by H-D in 2009. It’s the first of four planned new road models, to include the as-yet unspecified RX, SX and AX.

Only 100 full-house EBR 1190 Rs will be built, each costing £24k (£27k for the hopped-up Carbon Edition) and as such they represent the pinnacle of what Buell can achieve “with nobody looking over our shoulder”. Weight, power and torque closely match Ducati’s 1198. Full interview with the man we’re legally obliged to refer to as EB in MCN next week.
