Yamaha turbo diesel
Updated: 19 November 2014
Yamaha is developing an inline-four intercooled and turbocharged diesel engine, according to patents unearthed by American journalists.
The Japanese manufacturer has filed a number of patents, including one which appears to have an intercooler located above the engine or concealed in the frame and a turbocharger mounted adjacent to the cylinder head.
The patent, found by Hell For Leather, is not a guarantee the bike will be put in to production. But who knows, you could be scooting round town on a diesel powered Yamaha in no time!
MCN’s Chris Newbigging has already ridden one of the first diesel powered bikes. Read his take on it:
